The Sawler Real Estate Group, of RE/MAX nova, has been a family business for more than 40 years. Founded in 1971 by Don Sawler and later joined by Dorothy Sawler, the power duo worked hard to establish the Sawler name as a recognized brand in the city’s real estate circles. The team is now led by Andy Sawler and the business continues to build a reputation on building client relationships and trust. With a specialty in Nova Scotia including the Halifax Regional Municipality, the team’s industry experience extends to single family homes, condos, townhomes along with new development and construction. With an affiliate network of real estate professionals throughout the Maritimes, the Sawler Real Estate Group provides their clients hands-on, local expertise appropriate to the area of the Maritimes they choose to live. They believe in a philosophy of investing in the community, which extends to supporting local talent, charities and community groups. Says Founder Don Sawler, “Every transaction is a personal transaction.” In an ever-changing marketplace, the team stays well informed on industry — as well as cultural and lifestyle — trends shaping each region, in order to deliver clients the most up-to-date and appropriate information for their needs.

Andy Sawler

Having lived on both coasts of Canada, Andy is most proud of being part of a tightly knit Maritime community — and the personal connections that come with it. Andy attended Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, where he completed his bachelor’s degrees in arts and commerce. He then moved to Vancouver, working for seven years in sales for the technology sector. He returned home to Nova Scotia in 2005, joining the Sawler Real Estate Group and setting down roots in his natural habitat. He is an active member of the local chapter of the Real Estate Institute of Canada (REIC) and, in 2011, he received the RE/MAX Lifetime Achievement Award.

A continual learner, Andy has earned the designation of Fellow of the Real Estate Institute of Canada (FRI), the industry’s most prestigious designation for real estate professionals who demonstrate a commitment to the highest standards of education and ethical conduct. In his community, Andy is a member of the IWK Health Centre Founder’s Club and is a proud supporter of the Regional Independent Students Association (RISA) and the Dartmouth General Hospital Foundation. He enjoys gentleman’s league hockey, acts as chair of the Dartmouth Skateboard Coalition, and is a member of the Hartlen Point Forces Golf Club.

Nancy Sawler

Nancy has recently joined the team to assist on several exciting projects, including the exciting launch of Moving to the Maritimes. Though she moved to Toronto to pursue her education and career, home has always been the east coast for Nancy. She grew up in Dartmouth and obtained her bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s University in Halifax. With certifications in human resources, hospitality and specialties in sales and marketing, Nancy has made a career in the corporate health and fitness industry, working in downtown Toronto. It’s quite typical to meet clients and colleagues who also share an east coast connection and chat about favourite places to visit, and when they plan to visit again (or move back).

Nancy is a member of the Tourism Industry Association (TIANS) and Canadian Professional Sales Association. On the personal side, she is a travel enthusiast and loves any kind of trip planning! She is a proud supporter of several local charities in Nova Scotia and other causes close to her heart, particularly the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. Nancy and her husband are excited to start their search for a property in Nova Scotia — and at every opportunity, they share their experience and love of the Maritimes with anyone considering making the move.
